Steadily becoming more dire

The morning following the snowfall was very picturesque, so I took this photo of the driveway outside my apartment:

It seemed nice and Christmas-sy.

Today was a far lazier morning than I’ve been able to have in a while. You know the kind, where after you eventually get up, you stay in the shower long enough to nearly run out of hot water? (I didn’t actually run out until I was shaving.) Pretty sweet.

I’m pleased to say that I’ve finally found a place where I can get decent poppyseed bagels. It’s pretty far down in Redmond, though, so I have to phone the order in advance and make a trip of it. I don’t know what it is with bakeries in this state and poppyseed bagels, but they’ve been next to impossible to find. Certain creature-comforts are worth the extra effort, I suppose.

We had another poker game tonight, and I was the first one out (read: I lost first), and as courtesy dictates I had to sit and wait for more than three hours before the game ended. It wouldn’t have been such a big deal, but I was apparently hyper-allergic to the host’s dog, which made it a whole lot more difficult to relax and enjoy myself. I can’t wait for these shots to kick in.

I was hoping for a day to relax and finish unpacking tomorrow, and maybe clean my apartment (the need is steadily becoming more dire), but I’d forgotten that I have another friend’s show I should go and see… this one is nearly an hour’s drive, too, so between the trip there and back I’ll probably be too wiped to get anything else done tomorrow.

Oh well, there’s always next weekend.

Dan.
