There’s been a new addition to my household:
That’s right, I’m now the proud owner of a brand new pet Roomba.
He doesn’t seem to be quite intelligent as the various boasts I’ve heard proclaiming him to be. Cleaning my bedroom now he’s done the same exact strip of carpet about five times, and the other day when he did my living room he must’ve nearly knocked over my fireplace equipment half a dozen times. As a software engineer I’m inclined to think he makes heavier use of the infamous “random” algorithm than we are led to believe, and as pets go he leans heavily toward the dumber, keeps-banging-his-head-into-things variety. But he’s cleaner than most pets, I suppose, and after an hour or so of doing his thing I was surprised to be greeted with a dustbin full of crud I didn’t realize was stuck in the carpets.
So, welcome to the family, Roomba.
