Pirates of the Caribbean

My first game as the lead programmer hit shelves today: Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End for the Nintendo DS. No reviews as of yet, but initial player feedback seems pretty good!

The media seems to have particularly taken an interest in the special downloadable cheat we added that you can get in the Disney theme parks by tracking down the “X-marks-the-spot” near the Pirates attractions. I hope that goes over well; I’ll just say it took long enough for me to get that particular feature working properly! Here’s a trailer that includes some brief footage of the game and talks about the theme park cheat.

Lysistrata ended bittersweet. Four weekends was a decently long run, and I got sick of washing the colour out of my hair every night. And the theatre is right near the Mariner’s stadium, and they had a game just about every night we had a show, so traffic was always dreadful. But it was a fun group of people to work with and who knows when I’ll next be able to work with them all, so I miss it from that vantage point.

I’ve drilled down a date for my housewarming, a little less than two weeks from now. In fact, it’ll be the afternoon after my dad has left from his brief visit, and the day before I start rehearsals every evening for The Underpants. So it’s going to be a stressful time. But at least I get to barbecue for people again! If you’re Washington-local and I missed sending you an invitation (which is quite probable, seeing as I was working from very incomplete e-mail lists) please let me know and I’ll add you! (It’s going to be a challenge to fit the number of people that have already responded “yes” into my place. Good thing I enjoy a challenge.)

UPDATE: Our first review! Pretty much nothing bad to say about it, either. Although it still scores only a 70%, but that’s just par for the course in terms of how licensed titles tend to fare, especially on handhelds.
