Mixed and morbid

The marathon to the Damn Yankees opening has begun. Friday is my only night off, and then we have nine days comprised of rehearsals and our opening weekend. In the meantime I’ll have Second Story improv rehearsals as well, and I’m not booked to go to any UP shows this weekend but I might find myself there anyway.

Being a part of the UP ensemble is pretty awesome, but it wreaks havoc with my sleep schedule. Shows start at 10:30 PM and end near 12:30 AM… I would get home at 1 AM if I left promptly, but I usually hang around for a drink and chat, so I often won’t get home until 2, 3, or even later. I haven’t been this tired since I was in university… it’s pretty taxing, but I love it.

I’m slowly starting to find my performance legs at UP. Sunday was a tiny house with only a dozen people or so, but four of us decided to go on and do a Harold anyway… the suggestion was “funeral” which led to a rather mixed and morbid show, but I did some good work in it, and with only four people doing an hour-long non-stop montage of scenes it was both challenging and rewarding.

I’m planning to visit Toronto in December, and I’m gonna swing by NYC beforehand for a couple of days as well, so let me know if you’ll be available and start saving the dates!

Dan.
